Classes

Jan 30th, 2008 by jgates | 0

The Vine Preparatory Academy provides a unique blend of the home-school experience with the traditional classroom setting. This allows for the ‘healthy’ competition with peers that will stimulate the student academically combined with the intimacy of home schooling.

Classes meet at The Vine on Tuesday and Thursday. The ’school week’ starts each Tuesday and is completed on the following Monday. Course work assigned for Monday, Wednesday, and Friday is completed at home under the supervision and instruction of the parent. The classroom teacher will provide a detailed lesson plan for the week’s activities that the parent will use. Students are expected to complete all assignments given to them by the teacher. Parents can supplement in addition to what the teacher has assigned, but not in place of the teacher’s assignments.

All classroom teachers are experienced home-schooling parents, credentialed teachers, or experts in their particular academic discipline.

Class size is limited to 12 students for kindergarten through 3rd grade and 14 students for 4th through 8th grade.

Classes begin promptly at 8:45 a.m. with the flag salute & prayer and end at 3:00 p.m.

Electives vary throughout the school year and can include choir, drama, art, band, chess, ballet, and various home-making skills. Electives generally meet after classes on Tuesday and Thursday.
